More in-depth material: higher-education courses
Venice is an inexhaustible source of material for historical and artistic research, and the city’s museums play a key role here through the presentation of books, theme-based workshops, conferences, discussions and higher-education courses. On the one hand, there are continual on-going courses designed for students and professionals in a range of different disciplines; on the other, there are “study services” such as tutoring for degree and research theses, access to archives and collections and specialist training and apprenticeships.

BACKSTAGE OR HIDDEN TREASURES OF FASHION AND COSTUME
Palazzo Mocenigo Museum
An unusual itinerary that leads from the exhibition rooms of the museum, where clothes, textiles, furnishings and works from the eighteenth century are on display, to the extremely rich storerooms on the second floor, in spaces that are not normally accessible to the public. Here are preserved the rarest, most delicate and precious textile artefacts in the collection. In these storerooms, it is possible to admire the sixteenth-century calcagnini, the high wedge shoes beloved of noblewomen and courtesans, the women’s and men’s dresses of eigtheenth-century Venice, such as the famous andrienne, the favourite style of dress of Venetian women of the time, or the marsine and sottomarsine worn by men, together with accessories such as the bauta, socks and bags. A unique and evocative experience that also allows you to understand how a museum works ‘behind the scenes’.
Notes on architectural barriers: No lift; Staircase to reach the piano nobile of the museum; toilets at the first floor are not wheelchair-accessible; laboratory room at the ground floor.

A leap… between the Etruscans and the Veneti
On the occasion of the exhibition
Etruscans and Veneti. Water, cults and sanctuaries
Venice, Doge’s Palace
Doge’s Apartment
6 March-29 September 2026
After a guided tour of the exhibition, with a particular focus on the bronze artefacts depicting divinities, devout worshippers, warriors, horses and other animals, found in various Etruscan and Veneti archaeological sites, the activity continues in the workshop. Here, participants will learn the ancient and fascinating technique of embossing on aluminium-copper sheets, creating figures inspired by those admired in the exhibition. They will also be able to personalise their creation, which can then be taken home, by writing their name written using the Etruscan alphabet.
