New Glass Experiences Courses: create your own “goto”, your own murrina, your own beads!
New individual courses promoted by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia in collaboration with the ISS Abate Zanetti di Murano are now available, dedicated to anyone interested in experimenting with glassmaking. These 1-2 hour courses offer a unique opportunity to try artisanal techniques firsthand.
With Glass Experiences, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Murano glass, creating your own personal goto, your own murrina, or some splendid beads. Thanks to direct experience and the guidance of an expert Glass Master, you will be able to explore your creativity and learn the necessary skills to bring unique and original pieces to life.
This experience is not just a course, but a journey into the heart of the millenary tradition of glassmaking, where every participant can express their creativity and leave a personal mark. Whether you are an artist, a student, or simply an enthusiast, the courses are designed for anyone who wants to discover, create, and have fun.

CREATE YOUR OWN “GOTO” | Course duration: 2 hours
This Glass Experience aims to provide participants with an immersive glassmaking experience, with a specific focus on the personalized creation of a “Goto” (a traditional Venetian drinking glass). Through a historical and cultural introduction, the course aims to develop a greater awareness of the Venetian glassmaking tradition, accompanied by fundamental notions on safety, the use of tools, and furnace management. Participants will be guided in the design and planning of their own artifact, stimulating creativity and personal expression.
The practical experience, supervised by an expert Glass Master, will allow participants to apply the techniques they have learned and create a unique piece. The course not only provides an overview of technical skills but also values the Venetian cultural and artistic heritage, offering an opportunity to immerse oneself in an ancient and precious art. The goal is to combine tradition and innovation, creating a personalized and enriching educational experience.
The items created by participants can be collected the following day.
COSTS
The cost of the experience is 300 euros per participant, for a maximum of 2 participants.
The fee includes:
- use of the equipment and materials provided by the Istituto Abate Zanetti for the creation of the piece and for laboratory practice
- access to the furnaces and workshops
- visit to the Murano Glass Museum at the end of the experience
CREATE YOUR OWN “MURRINA” | Course duration: 1 hour
This Glass Experience offers an immersive educational experience in the technique of glass fusing, with a particular focus on the creation of a “murrina,” a symbol of the Venetian glassmaking tradition. Participants will acquire fundamental knowledge of glassmaking, from furnace and tool management to material knowledge, combining theory and practice in an authentic environment. The program also includes a creative design and planning phase, designed to stimulate artistic expression and the customization of the artifact.
The practical activity, guided by an expert Glass Master, allows for the development of manual skills in manipulating glass and creating a unique murrina. The course not only introduces the artisanal techniques of glass fusing but also promotes the appreciation of Venetian cultural heritage, offering an unforgettable experience that combines tradition, creativity, and craftsmanship. Participants will take home not only a piece made with their own hands but also a greater awareness of the art of glass.
The murrine created by participants can be collected on the same day at the end of the experience.

CREATE YOUR OWN BEADS | Course duration: 2 hours
This experience aims to introduce participants to the art of lampworking, providing a solid theoretical and practical foundation for creating unique glass beads. Participants will learn the fundamental techniques for handling the torch and working tools, as well as understanding the behavior of glass during manipulation. Under the guidance of an expert Glass Master, each participant will be able to develop high-level craftsmanship skills, designing and creating both simple and decorated beads.
An additional objective is to promote knowledge of Venetian artisanal traditions, valuing the cultural heritage linked to glassmaking. The educational experience is enriched by the opportunity to visit the Murano Glass Museum, offering participants a complete historical and cultural perspective. This exclusive training path guarantees personalized and engaging learning, suitable for both beginners and those wishing to deepen their skills.
The items created will be available for collection on the same day.

PARTICIPATION TERMS
The experiences are conducted in English and Italian, and no prior specific knowledge is required. All courses take place in person at the workshops of the Scuola del Vetro di Murano (Faro vaporetto stop).
