Services
The scientific services attached to the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia are of fundamental importance, maintaining constant exchange with the international scholarly community and providing indispensable support to researchers across many related disciplines.
LIBRARY SERVICES
The museums‘ specialized libraries are of particular importance, preserving important manuscripts and prints, as well as monografies and periodicals related to the history and art of Venice (Museo Correr Library), fashion and costumes from the 17th century to today (Palazzo Mocenigo Museum Library), the Venetian theater and the performing arts in general, with documents from the 17th to the 20th century (Carlo Goldoni’s House Library), natural sciences (Natural History Museum Library) and Modern and Contemporary Art (Ca‘ Pesaro Library).
ONLINE CATALOGUE OF THE COLLECTIONS
The online catalogue gives access to a database of the considerable historical, artistic, and natural heritage preserved in the Civic Museums of Venice.
Currently, there are almost 50,000 files, created in accordance with the standards of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage’s Central Institute of Catalogues and Documentation, and is continuously updated by the Cataloguing Centre of the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and the scientific personnel in the individual museums.
ARCHIVE PHOTOGRAPHIC
The Photographic Archive of the Musei Civici di Venezia, located at the Correr Museum, functions as a photographic library, with two main sections of materials:
1. “Museums”, with reproductions of artworks belonging to the Musei Civici di Venezia;
2. “Various collections”, with reproduction of various works, landscape reproductions of the city of Venice and artworks of other museums out of the Musei Civici di Venezia.
