PALAZZO MOCENIGO REOPENS. A new section dedicated to perfume

NEW ITINERARIES AT PALAZZO MOCENIGO.

Between fashion and fragrances

From November 2013, Palazzo Mocenigo
Centro Studi di Storia del Tessuto e del Costume

The project restyling of the museum of Palazzo Mocenigo, supported by the Soprintendenza ai Beni Architettonici e Paesaggistici di Venezia e Laguna and the City of Venice, has the scientific supervision of Pierluigi Pizzi, the internationally acclaimed architect, set and costume designer, and is carried out under the scientific direction of Gabriella Belli, director of the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and curated by Chiara Squarcina, curator of the museum.

Along the new museum itinerary, visitors can rediscover the atmosphere of the original 18th-century environment and have a comprehensive framework of the habits and customs of that period, thanks to exhibition spaces dedicated to the most important nucleus of textiles, clothing and accessories of the 18th-century conservated in the Center for Studies of the History of Textiles and Costume of Palazzo Mocenigo.

Inside the new path an unprecedented museological proposal dedicated entirely to the history of perfume and essences, which will be arranged by MAVIVE SpA, the main partner in this exciting operation geared to the revival and promotion of the museum venue.

Join the project also the well-known German fragrance house Drom, which will provide scientific and technical support for installations on perfume and will display a selection of its extraordinary collection of Storp perfume bottles (one of the most important in the world, with more than 2,500 items and pieces dating up to 2,000 BC).

Are involved in the project also Cosmetica Italia (ex Unipro), the association of Italian cosmetic companies, with the loan of his librarian fund, the creation of a video documentary, educational support and retrieval of historical material, the Camera di Commercio di Venezia, with an important economic contribution, and the Course of Cosmetology of the Università di Ferrara, which will provide scientific advice and will organize olfactory seminars.

The partnership of Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and Mavive Spa received 1° PREMIO CULTURA + IMPRESA 2013 (The 1° PRIZE CULTURE + COMPANY 2013) by the COMITATO non profit CULTURA + IMPRESA, founded by Federculture and The Round Table.
